ENBW save the world's climate
The Baden-Württemberg, EnBW hats once again managed. Without compromising conscience, the world's climate, it serves southern half of energy. And we need as a customer to have a bad conscience! For ENBW not only has the lowest CO2 emissions of the major power companies in Germany (like an ad campaign announced a few months), no - it is also "Für mehr Energie aus Wasserkraft" ein!
Es gibt durchaus akzeptierte Szenarien, after which the global temperature warmed by the year 2100 by 5 degrees. Extreme scenarios - if the human race does not invest more in climate change - go up to 10 degrees from more in 2100. [...]
I will not paint horror scenarios. But the fact is: we are not successful, keep the climate in balance issues that we regard today as urgent, soon only secondary.
And it is always reasonable!
oil, coal and gas - there can be no doubt that our dependence on fossil fuels fast - need to reduce - and very quickly. This is not only an ecological but also unter ökonomischen Aspekten wichtig.
It is good and true that Germany has taken a leading role. Equally important is to note that you can win on climate change only with a concerted global energy and environmental policy.
Global environmental policy is for an established company like ENBW a good point. Had the German SPD-Green government in 1998 decided on its own to reduce the CO2 emissions radically, it would certainly have a much more serious havoc in the German energy industry, where, as this has happened after months of negotiations over the Kyoto Protocol. It had all the usual interests be satisfied as at major international conferences.
Reduziert der Wettbewerber seine Emissionen durch new equipment, he can sell the excess allowances to make a profit. We were almost punished, however: Because we generate nuclear power or water much emissions-free energy, we have the opportunity not so.
bad after all. ENBW may not reduce its existing lignite-fired power plants and will not be rewarded for it. But we'd go again to the real climate change - and for your town.
It is a question of decency, that you look at that delivers what you negotiated, agreed and signed has - namely the nuclear phase. There is also a matter of decency that one may point out the consequences of those agreements. The nuclear phase leads to additional emissions and additional Costs.
[...] climate can not be had for free. A more on renewable sources of energy also not aligned. Thinking in decades rather than quarters in: Energy is inevitably more expensive. 4 billion people will still be energized. That energy demand in countries such as China, India, Indonesia and Brazil is huge. So
moment. The nuclear phase-out is bad. Making at all costs and even nuclear power is good because they allegedly caused less CO2 emissions. The Neckar-irradiated water and disposal of 10,000 years time and costs, we think we now simply gone even generous.
Ok, global energy demand is rising. However, the global nuclear industry currently in the process to establish that the need is really really cover only by nuclear power. And finally, also believes Mr Claassen. The nuclear phase-out is really irresponsible - and nuclear power is because of the energy demand of India and China
THE alternative. However, Chinese and Indian nuclear power plants are now not able to be built in Germany with its high safety standards. In China, where every year hundreds of miners killed in coal mines in India and it looks a little different. During the devastating tsunami in late 2004
lapped the tidal wave and an Indian nuclear power plant. Fortunately, the reactor should be shut down well before the cooling water pump failed. And the next tsunami / earthquake / typhoon / popular uprising?
However Mr Claassen as the many other actors, fossil and nuclear energy to maintain absolutely irresponsible that renewable energies are an illusory perspective. Rather, it was like Germany a few years, the national share of renewable electricity of 5 double to over 10% more than. So why should not - as Mr. Classen says - are within a few decades of 100% in it?
produce Already states such as Mecklenburg and Schleswig-Holstein over 25% of their electricity from renewable energy sources. Although in Baden-Wurttemberg Wind blows less than in Northern Germany: Potential exists. While in the neighboring countries are much more than wind turbines are in the catchment area of \u200b\u200bENBW,
generated example Bavaria is already more than 4% of its primary energy (this includes car fuel) from biomass. In the field of geothermal energy (geothermal) or photovoltaic Solarthermei and there are next to very large potential.
The reason for the reluctance of ENBW place in the field of renewable energy in casual comment in the TAZ-Interviews:
Our net revenue per kilowatt hour are now lower in real terms than before the electricity market liberalization. The government levies and charges have caused the other hand, deutlich erhöht: Gewinner der Liberalisierung sind also der Staat und die Umwelt.
The whole can upscale also: a place like the Lower Saxony
Jühnde that can generate its electricity and heating demand of wood and agricultural waste from the area and sells its excess electricity, a yellow nuclear power to buy more of the established power companies.
However, it is difficult to accuse Mr Claassen, that he his company to market criteria and will therefore consider competitors like the Lord with the solar roof or communities Jühnde as with any good word. ENBW earned their money with large power stations that carry their power over long distances to the end users. The cost of this see them on their electricity bill: pay 40% of the price it only for network transmission.
that crumbles the market power of ENBW as more people get the idea to stock up with regenerative energy from the environment, is also readily apparent. ENBW its nuclear power can only sell so cheap because the customer externalities such as poorly detectable leukemia from Neckar residents do not pay full price just like the thousands of years of storage of uranium fuel rods anbgebrannten. That should bring this bold project of the ENBW to build a giant hydroelectric power station, hardly any effects on the spread of climate-and human-friendly renewable energy sources is clear. Of such symbolic gestures, inflated in large ad campaigns, the customer should not be influenced.
